Empowering women, even those at the margins of poverty, brings forth vital talent and energy. Since women spend 90 percent of their earned income on their families, as compared to 30 – 40 percent for men, empowering women also means family empowerment.
Empowering girls provides for the future. If girls achieve education beyond grammar school, the risk of poverty for the next generation declines exponentially.
If girls are educated about reproductive rights and trained about and treated for sexual abuse, violence against women decreases dramatically.
